A small, dry deciduous herb with narrow, greyish green foliage and beautiful golden yellow to orange flowers. Depending on winter temperatures, Eschscholzia californica can grow as an annual or as a perennial. It is native to western North America where it is found on grassy, open land to elevations of 2000 m. easily grown in a wide range of temperate and warm temperate climates.
