Klip Dagga is an annual or perennial, herbaceous shrub to over 2 m (6 ft.) tall with soft leaves and orange to red flowers in spherical inflorescences atop long, upright stalks. Originally native to Africa and the Indian Subcontinent, Leonotis nepetifolia has widely escaped cultivation and is now found in many places in the tropics and in warm temperate regions worldwide. The plant has a wide range of medicinal uses and the leaves and flowers are traditionally smoked in Africa for euphoric, sedative and hallucinogenic effects. It also makes a fair ornamental.
